Interior Health has embarked on an expansion plan to meet increasing demands, expand health services and enhance patient care in the Okanagan. The current phase of the plan is called the Kelowna and Vernon Hospitals Project.
The project includes a new approximately 360,000-square-foot patient care tower at Kelowna General Hospital (KGH). The KGH emergency department will be located on the ground floor of the patient care tower and will quadruple in size. And KGH will also be the site of a 34,000 square foot clinical academic campus of the University of BC Medical School. Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH) will see the construction of a new approximately 231,500-square-foot patient care tower.
These new facilities will help Interior Health provide enhanced patient care for a growing population. The coordination of care for patients will be improved through the integration of outpatient and day care services at both KGH and VJH. And service efficiency and patient flow through new emergency departments will improve the patient experience.
