Vernon Jubilee Hospital Polson Tower

The primary objective of the VJH Polson Tower is to bring together existing programs in a more efficient facility that will enhance patient care now, as well as allow for future expansion.

The new seven-storey tower will include 231,500 total square feet – more than double the size of the Wesbild Centre, home of the BC Hockey League’s Vernon Vipers. It will include:

  • new expanded and modernized emergency department
  • consolidated and centralized new operating rooms
  • new maternity and pediatrics ward
  • new intensive care unit
  • two extra shelled-in floors to build capacity for future patient beds
  • new expanded and consolidated outpatient (day procedures) department
  • new and more efficient central sterilization services
  • new ambulance garage
  • space vacated in current hospital leaves space for other programs and services.

VJH is one of four service area hospitals within Interior Health’s network of health care facilities. It serves approximately 86,000 residents in the areas of Vernon, Armstrong, Enderby, Spallumcheen, Salmon Arm, Revelstoke and Nakusp.

The original structure of the current facility was built in 1947, with newer wings added between 1968 and 1983.
